How Americans are seen in France
This report is addressed to all French restaurateurs to understand (and welcome better) tourists in France, according to where they are from. This report if from June 2004 but still interesting to read.This one concerns American people.
Here are some passages (it's translated from French to English so please excuse the inaccuracy):
What they like
Breakfasts: croissants, baguette, pain au chocolat and expresso coffee
Good value for money
To remain seated for a long time, eating
Service at restaurants, is considered like a "real" work
What they don't like
Rudeness of Parisian waiters
Lack of knowledge of English language
Lack of English menus at restaurants
French etnocentrism concerning their language
Dishes with offals
How red meat is cooked - need a "de-animalised" meat which doesn't remind people where the meat is from.
So what do you think of these? It makes sense to me.

Very interesting...but getting past language differences should be simpler with handheld translators, etc.
I think more and more American travelers see travel as an adventure. If everything was in English it would be too easy...no adventure.
Oh, yeas...Happy Hour and Brunch are favorites...both seem to have popular with locals, as well.
