Olympic Torch Begins its Journey Around the World

The Olympic torch for the Beijing games is on its way around the world. Last Monday, March 24, the initial ceremony took place in front of the Temple of Hera on the historic grounds of Olympia, where the Ancient Olympic Games took place. A very fortunate Holy Priestess did the honors and lit the torch according to traditional ritual: using the sun’s rays and a parabolic mirror. The torch will pass through Europe in early April, hitting London on April 6 and Paris on April 7.
