Letters from the Titanic

You still have few more days to see the exhibition « Titanic, in the heart of the ocean », held at the Musée des Lettres et Manuscrits.

The shipwreck of the steamer will remain without any doubt one of the major event of sea transport history. It’s in April 1912 that the giant of the seas considered unsinkable sinks for ever in the ocean.
Among the few 700 survivors out of the 2000 persons on board, an American romancer left a testimony coming up this catastrophe, a hand written account of the last lived hours on Titanic board. A new document witch inspired the famous James Cameron to create his movie which is presented for the fist time at the public within the framework of the exhibition “Titanic, in the heart of the ocean”.
In addition to this manuscript are presented also letters of passengers of Titanic, logbook (tickets restaurants, plan of first class, letter-charts with heading of Titanic, advertising folder), telegrams announcing the catastrophe or refusing it, film posters, postcards, photographs, news papers cutting of time and films of files.
The whole of theses parts is the subject of an original scenography of Alain Juteau who allows you to dive in the middle of the Titanic history.
